About Us

This personal collection of approximately 3,400 nativities accumulated since 1970 is open to the public only by appointment, celebrating the Christmas nativity (''birth'') on evenings and weekends, year-round. Talents and imaginations of artists around the world have inspired the creation of nativities made from almost every medium imaginable depicting the Birth of Jesus Christ as traditional as well as folklore. Truly a diverse collection worthy of a King, these depictions are creatively enhanced and displayed. Judy Klein, owner and ''Mangermaid'' will walk you through the gallery, explaining some of the cultures, telling you stories of how she obtained them, educating you about how they were made or what they mean. Her mission in life is to share God's Word, and this is how she does it. And she does it well. Her faith and strong passion for the Nativity will lift your spirit, refresh your outlook, and definitely give you a new perspective as you see ''Christmas'' from perhaps a new or different perspective. This is not a 30-minute tour; plan on at least 1 1/2 hours.
There is no charge or fee. Children are welcome. Small groups are welcome but limited to a maximum of ten people. The collection is indoor in a climate-controlled environment and is wheelchair accessible. ''Bethlehem In Denton County'' is a member of Friends of the Creche (FOTC), a national organization of folks who share a passion for the Birth of Jesus. FOTC is a member of ''Une Foe Prae'', the World Crib Congress which is the international organization of nativity collectors based in Europe
