Multidirectional Forklift Operator

Pay Range: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour

JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a skilled and safety conscious Multidirectional Forklift Operator to join our warehouse and material handling team. The ideal candidate will have experience operating multidirectional or side-loader forklifts and will be responsible for the safe, efficient movement and storage of materials, particularly long or oversized loads within our facility.  

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 to 3 years of experience operating multidirectional, side-loader, or 4 - directional forklifts in a warehouse, steel yard, or manufacturing environment.
• Forklift certification (multidirectional or equivalent) required.
• Must successfully pass background checks, drug screening, physical, audiogram, and vision test.
Preferred:
• Experience handling long materials such as beams, pipes, or lumber.
• Familiarity with inventory management systems or barcode scanners.
• Additional certifications in material handling or heavy equipment operation.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Proficient in safe forklift operation and maneuvering long or oversized materials in narrow spaces.
• Ability to conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs promptly.
• Basic understanding of inventory control systems, scanners, or warehouse software.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and company policies related to material handling.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently or collaboratively within a team.
• Good communication skills and situational awareness in fast-paced environments.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Safely operate multidirectional forklifts to transport, load, and unload materials (steel, lumber, fabricated components).
• Maneuver long and bulky materials efficiently through tight spaces and narrow aisles.
• Perform daily pre-shift inspections on forklifts to ensure operational safety.
• Report equipment issues or maintenance requirements to supervisors promptly.
• Assist with inventory control, order picking, and staging of materials for production or shipment.
• Maintain accurate movement records using barcode scanners or inventory software.
• Adhere to OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
• Use required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow established load securement procedures.
• Work closely with production teams, shipping personnel, and supervisors to support efficient material flow.
• Communicate clearly regarding material locations, shortages, and workflow updates.

WORKING CONDITIONS
The position is a shop floor and yard position. Works primarily outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.  Exposure to shop elements such as noise, dust, odors and chemicals.
