Take a half-day for your health and join us for the 4th annual Power of a Healthy Woman! The purpose of this event is to increase knowledge of health risks among women and to raise awareness about disease prevention and health promotion. Arm yourself with the strategies to take charge of your health. Each year this event brings a nationally recognized keynote speaker and highlights one physician local to Denton County with two other speakers addressing various dimensions of wellness. We have many sponsors that all keep the cost of this half-day event low for the community. In fact, just $35 covers all 4 speakers, lunch, access to exhibitors and free chair massages, Power of a Healthy Woman bags full of give-aways, refreshments, and community resources!
This year’s keynote speaker is Mark Fenton, the Walking Guru. Mark Fenton is a nationally recognized public health, planning, and transportation consultant, was host of the PBS television series “America’s Walking,” a manager at the University of North Carolina’s Pedestrian and Bicycle Information Center, and an instructor in the walkable community workshop series of the Washington DC-based National Center for Bicycling and Walking. The former editor-at-large of Walking Magazine, Mark was also a champion race walker. We look forward to hearing his assessment of how “walkable” Denton is!
