February Blood Drive - Lunch Provided!
Our first Carter BloodCare Blood Drive of 2020 is Saturday, February 22nd from 11am to 3pm. The drive will be located at Holiday Inn Express & Suites Denton South who is co-hosting the drive with us. BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse is also generously donating pizzas and pizookies for all of the donors! ??

- We are currently facing a blood shortage and your donation is needed to replenish the shelves at local hospitals, ALL BLOOD TYPES ARE NEEDED!
- We are experiencing dangerously low inventory of Rh negative blood types, especially type O negative that is used for emergencies.
- Blood has a shelf life and cannot be manufactured, it only comes from volunteers.
- About eight million people rely on blood and transfusion services from Carter BloodCare; the largest blood center in Texas and among the largest in the U.S.
- Every 90 seconds, a patient in the Carter BloodCare service area receives a blood transfusion; that equates to 600 to 800 people every day.
It’s important as a community that we sustain our own blood supply as much as possible. As the holiday season ends, we are trying desperately to make up the shortage in units. Every day, we need to collect 1500 a day for a week to sustain our hospitals needs and service 700 patients daily, however, we currently are not able to meet the need and about 300 patients may actually get the units that they need.
