Innovation and Entrepreneurship the focus

December 22, 2017
A satellite office of the North Central Texas Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is housed at the Denton Chamber.

The chamber provides office space and matching funds through its Economic Development contract with the City of Denton.  A full-time counsellor is provided by North Central Texas College.  The focus is on encouraging innovation, entrepreneurship and providing resources needed to start, grow and succeed.

SBDC Director Brad Bunt provided results to the chamber board reflecting the 12-month period concluding September 30, 2017.

The Denton Chamber SBDC office provided business counselling assistance, at no cost, as part of a service area that also includes Cooke and Montague County.  The North Central Texas SBDC exceeded four of its five goals.

According to Brad, the SBDC supported 30 new business starts, creating 119 new jobs.  The results were a combined capital infusion of $5.5 million into the Denton area economy.  Business start clients included 56% women owned projects, 29% minority and 11% were military veterans.
