October 24, 2017
Adam Gawarecki, the chamber’s Vice President of Economic Development informed the board that he expected an announcement soon for a significant investment on an 83 acre Rayzor property site.  Code named Project Rail Load, the company will construct a 500,000 square foot cold storage facility and ultimately employ 150.
The chamber’s Economic Development Department (ED) operates on an October 1 fiscal year.  In conjunction with the chamber board’s Mid-Year Program & Budget Review, the ED staff prepared a comparison of achievements.
For the full year ending September 30, 2017, ED staff coordinated 15 site visits from 12 different companies.  This compares to nine in 2015-16 and five during the 2014-15 fiscal year.
Chamber ED staff prepared a report for the mid-year board of directors program & budget review confirming eight different prospect files that resulted in relocations or expansions since the present marketing team had been in place in 2014.
The lead generation response rate was up to 90 percent for the contract year ending September 30, 2017, and up 26.5 percent since 2014.
Highlights from the past three years included the WinCo Distribution Center, Victor Technologies, Penske Trucks, Med Trans and Pacific Labs, including the source from the leads originated.
