Board approves Visitor Initiatives
December 11, 2017
During its regular November meeting, the Board adopted a couple of key priorities for the chamber’s Convention & Visitor Bureau (CVB).
Kim Phillips, the CVB Director, was authorized to execute an agreement with the Denton Record-Chronicle to produce Denton Live magazine. The contract calls for 60,000 copies printed semi-annually, to promote major Denton area events and attractions.
Denton Live is primarily distributed through different regional outlets, as well as available through the chamber office, downtown visitor center and local hotels. It is also accessible electronically through the CVB’s Discover Denton web site.
The board also approved the creation of a new executive position, Director of Visitor Services. Designed as a joint agreement with the Denton Main Street Association, the job applies specifically to Christine Gossett.
Denton Main Street currently contracts with Christine for administrative services and event coordination. Christine also previously worked for the Denton Chamber, including management of the Convention & Visitor Bureau.
She already has an office at the Discover Denton Welcome Center, on the south side of the downtown square. In her expanded role, she will step up as manager of the visitor center.
The center houses the Denton Radio.Com studios, as well as a retail store for selling local art, music and sundries.
