Job Description
North Central Texas College is accepting applications for an Associate Degree Nursing Instructor:  Gainesville, Texas; Full-Time, Benefits Eligible
 
Summary
Teach students effectively in assigned classes and maintain office hours for student consultation in accordance with procedures outlined in the North Central Texas College Board Policy and/or agreed upon with immediate supervisor.
 
Education:
  • RN from an accredited school of Nursing
Preferred:
  • Master’s degree in Nursing; BSN in Nursing will be considered depending on clinical background
  • Five or more years of clinical experience in an acute care and or medical surgical setting
 
Skills & Abilities:
  • Computer Skills
  • Current Nursing Clinical competency
  • Knowledge of the Texas Nurse Practice Act
  • Communication skills
 
Experience:
  • Five or more years of clinical experience in an acute care and or medical surgical setting
·         A current license to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Texas
Preferred:
  • Past experience either teaching in community college ADN Nursing program and/or as a clinical instructor
 
Responsibilities & Duties:
The Associate Degree Nursing Instructor assumes responsibility for performance of all functions generally identified by the college as within the realm of the instructor including:
  • Participation in planning, implementing and evaluating the teaching-learning process in the classroom and laboratory setting.
  • Maintaining accurate and complete course records as required by North Central Texas College.
  • Taking an active part in college activities by serving on departmental and college-wide committees.
  • Attending departmental meetings and participating in planning, implementing and evaluating assigned courses for continued development of the nursing curriculum.
  • Keeping current in trends in nursing education and clinical practice to improve instructional ability.
  • Participating in the selection of textbooks, library, audiovisual acquisitions and other instructional support materials.
  • Maintaining public relations with assigned clinical agencies to include assessing the adequacy of available clinical learning experiences.
  • Participating in student recruitment, advisement and registration.
  • Meet North Central Texas College criteria for position of instructor.
  • Be approved by Board of Nurse Examiners of Texas.
  • Willing to work within the philosophical framework of North Central Texas College and the Associate Degree Nursing Program.
  • Work effectively within a group or independently; student oriented and able to meet deadlines.
 
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the position, with or without an accommodation:  Stand; sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
 
Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position, and campus hours of operation are Monday through Thursday, 8:00am-5:00pm and Friday, 8am-noon.  All faculty members are responsible for maintaining 10 office hours per week.
 
Travel maybe required to other off-site locations.  Subject to criminal background check.  Contract/Salary: 9 month contract; salary commensurate with education and experience. Resume required in addition to application.
